The Assistant City Solicitor position in the Real Estate and Development Unit involves providing legal counsel to various City departments, including Parks and Recreation, Public Property, Commerce, Free Library, Records, Streets, Office of Homeless Services, Art Commission, Planning Commission, Managing Director’s Office, and the Mayor’s Office. The role focuses on structuring, negotiating, and documenting real estate transactions and economic development initiatives to support the City's objectives.

Key responsibilities include drafting and negotiating real estate transactional documents such as conveyances, leases, license agreements, easements, concession agreements, sale agreements, deeds, deed restrictions, declarations of taking, and professional service contracts. The solicitor will also review land and title documents, appraisals, and title policies, and draft ordinances to obtain City Council authorization for transactions.

Candidates must have a law degree from an ABA-accredited law school and be a member in good standing of the Pennsylvania Bar or eligible for admission by reciprocity. A minimum of one year of relevant legal experience is preferred. Essential skills include knowledge of real estate laws, land and title records, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent writing and negotiation skills, and the capacity to manage multiple transactions and projects efficiently.
