Canonical is seeking a UX Designer to join its Infrastructure team, focusing on creating open-source tools that facilitate cloud development and compute cluster management. This role is integral to transforming complex software into intuitive products, enhancing the capabilities of enterprise IT. The position reports to the Infrastructure Design Manager and is based remotely within the EMEA region.

The UX Designer will be responsible for developing tools that empower users to build their own cloud experiences, including products like MAAS, LXD, MicroCloud, and Canonical Kubernetes. Collaboration with product managers and engineers is essential to shape the future of data centers and self-sovereign clouds. The role also involves supporting complex products through design processes and UX heuristics, evolving design systems for consistency and efficiency, and contributing to cross-functional design initiatives.

Candidates should have an exceptional academic track record and a bachelor's degree or equivalent in User Experience, Design, STEM, or a compelling alternative path. A passion for building and working with real hardware, along with knowledge of user experience, technology, and design, is crucial. The role requires a commitment to continuous learning, a result-oriented mindset, confidence in user research practices, and engagement with the latest design research and innovation. The ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events is also necessary.

Canonical offers a distributed work environment with twice-yearly in-person team sprints, a personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year, annual compensation reviews, recognition rewards, annual holiday leave, maternity and paternity leave, a Team Member Assistance Program, and opportunities to travel to new locations to meet colleagues.

Joining Canonical means becoming part of a pioneering tech firm at the forefront of the global move to open source. As the publisher of Ubuntu, Canonical is changing the world of software and offers a remote-first work environment that challenges employees to think differently, work smarter, learn new skills, and raise their game.
