UX Designer - Developer experience

Canonical is seeking a UX Designer to join our Developer Experience team, focusing on enhancing the tools and processes that empower developers worldwide. As a key member of our design team, you will collaborate closely with engineers and product managers to create intuitive, open-source solutions that streamline software development and distribution. This remote position is based in the EMEA region and reports to the Developer Experience Design Manager.

In this role, you will design and build tools that enable users to build, package, and maintain their own software, with a strong emphasis on open-source technologies. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include collaborating with cross-functional teams to shape the future of developer experience, supporting complex products through design and UX heuristics, and evolving design systems to drive consistency and efficiency across our platforms.

The ideal candidate will possess an exceptional academic track record and hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in User Experience, Design, or a STEM field. A deep knowledge and passion for user experience, technology, and design are essential. We value a commitment to continuous learning and improvement, a result-oriented mindset, confidence in user research practices, and engagement with the latest design research and innovation. The ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events is also required.
