Unisys OS 2200 Application Support Specialist
Monks is seeking an OS 2200 Application Support Specialist to join our team, providing critical support for a major manufacturing client's core business applications. This role offers an opportunity to work with time-tested enterprise systems and contribute to ongoing modernization efforts.
The specialist will be responsible for providing on-call response and support for the client's Unisys 2200 application environment, following a flexible rotation schedule to ensure coverage. Key duties include adhering to customer-defined policies for incident escalation, change control, testing, and promotion into production; monitoring mainframe databases to ensure data integrity; triaging and assessing incidents to distinguish between systems software issues and application anomalies; implementing approved corrections in coordination with change control procedures; contributing to the ongoing documentation and expansion of the knowledge base; and advising management on technical trends and potential impacts on the application environment.
Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in managing, servicing, and supporting OS 2200 applications in an enterprise environment. Essential qualifications include working knowledge of Unisys 2200 applications development and operations, familiarity with the DMS-1100 database system and TIP transaction processing, knowledge of OS 2200 development tools and operational utilities, experience with COBOL and related development utilities (MASM/assembler experience is highly desirable), understanding of job control using Executive Control Language (ECL), ability to thrive under pressure to resolve time-sensitive mission-critical issues, strong written and verbal communication skills adaptable to various audiences, and proficiency with data access methods including DMS-1100, ISAM, and flat files.
