Turbomachinery Engineer
Oklo is seeking an experienced Turbomachinery Engineer to join our engineering team, focusing on the design, procurement, and operation of rotating equipment within our advanced fission power plants. The Turbomachinery Engineer will be responsible for defining equipment requirements and specifications for both commercial off-the-shelf and custom-designed rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, and turbines. Key duties involve identifying performance metrics, developing verification test plans, collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate equipment into power plants and test facilities, working with external vendors on equipment analysis and procurement, and generating technical documentation for regulatory filings and internal reports.
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline, along with at least five years of experience in the design, operation, or maintenance of rotating equipment in industries such as power generation, petroleum, or chemical sectors. A broad familiarity with engineering principles and strong systems engineering intuition are essential. Preferred qualifications include experience with first-of-kind turbomachinery development and testing, developing operational plans for rotating equipment, and operating or generating design specifications for industrial steam turbines.
