Temporary UX Strategy Director
As a Strategy Director at Monks, you will lead the strategic vision for a portfolio dedicated to one of the world's most significant digital ecosystems. This role focuses on ecosystem strategy, defining how users and developers experience the web, mobile platforms, and the future of internet standards. Monks is a global, digital-first, data-driven company that combines a wide range of marketing and technology services to redefine brand interactions.
In this position, you will own the strategic narrative across a suite of digital products, ensuring a unified voice and user journey across browsers, operating systems, and web platforms. Your responsibilities include applying a UX lens to brand challenges, evaluating user interactions with digital interfaces, and identifying opportunities to improve on-device experiences. You will strategize how to communicate complex technical shifts, such as the move to a post-cookie web or generative AI integration, to both casual users and the developer community. Additionally, you will lead the strategy for major digital-first moments, from immersive virtual keynotes and developer conferences to interactive web-based storytelling and on-device content.
The ideal candidate has 7–12+ years of experience in digital strategy, UX strategy, or product marketing within an agency or tech-first company. You should possess deep web fluency, understanding the importance of browsers, the evolution of mobile operating systems, and the impact of AI on the digital experience. A strong UX strategy toolkit is essential, including comfort with user flows, wireframes, and digital architectures. You must have the ability to translate high-level technical concepts into simple, emotional, and persuasive narratives. An agile mentality is crucial, thriving in fast-paced environments where technology is constantly evolving and timelines are often tight. Storytelling excellence is also key, with the ability to command a room and build deep trust with high-level technical stakeholders.
Monks offers an hourly rate of $85–$93 USD for this position. The company provides excellent, full coverage medical, dental, and vision insurance, generous PTO and 15 company-wide holidays, a 401k with company contribution, paid parental leave, and a work-life balance with an emphasis on personal well-being. There are also career growth opportunities in a disruptor space and entrepreneurial opportunities within the Monks network.
