Technologist Intern – Audit Division
The California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) is seeking a Technologist Intern to join its Audit Division. This part-time, paid internship is designed for current PhD students with a keen interest in privacy, emerging technologies, and consumer protection. As a pioneering state agency dedicated to safeguarding consumer privacy, CPPA offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the enforcement and education of privacy rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
In this role, the Technologist Intern will assist in identifying emerging privacy and technology risks, support audits of business practices that may impact Californians' privacy rights, and contribute to enforcement efforts aimed at strengthening consumer privacy protections. The intern will work closely with the Audit Division team to ensure that privacy rights are effectively operationalized, providing Californians with greater control over their personal information.
Candidates must be current PhD students with a focus on privacy, emerging technologies, or related fields. Strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of privacy laws and regulations, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are essential. Prior experience in auditing, compliance, or enforcement related to privacy is advantageous but not mandatory.
This internship offers a competitive salary and the flexibility of remote work, allowing interns to balance their academic commitments while gaining practical experience. Interns will also benefit from mentorship and networking opportunities, building connections with leading professionals in law, technology, and privacy.
Joining CPPA means becoming part of an innovative and mission-driven team committed to advancing consumer privacy. Interns will gain invaluable insights working at the nation's first state privacy agency, developing practical skills that will serve them well in their future careers.
