Sustaining Associate Engineer - Engineer I, High Throughput Operations
Profluent, an AI-driven protein design company founded in 2022, is seeking a Sustaining Associate Engineer to join their High Throughput Operations team in Emeryville, California. This role is integral to maintaining and enhancing automated workflows that support various biological research initiatives.
As a Sustaining Associate Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include providing on-site support for automated workflows, performing regular maintenance and calibration of liquid handling systems and other high-throughput lab equipment, and developing verification and validation test protocols. You will also assist in creating standard operating procedures (SOPs) for validated automation processes, develop tools and documentation for tracking equipment spare parts and service calls, and foster relationships with vendors and third-party service providers.
Candidates should possess a BS or MS in a science or engineering discipline with 1-3 years of relevant experience. Hands-on experience operating liquid handling systems such as Tecan Fluent, Hamilton Star, Agilent Bravo, or Beckman Coulter Biomek is essential. Familiarity with high-throughput assay development and workflows in gene assembly, cloning, mammalian screening, and NGS is beneficial. Strong oral and written communication skills, adaptability to changing project priorities, and the ability to build collaborative relationships are also important.
