Strategic Solutions Engineer - CNC - San Francisco, CA
Fictiv, a division of MISUMI Americas, is seeking a Strategic Solutions Engineer - CNC to join their solution engineering team in San Francisco, CA. This role focuses on strategic, high-complexity, production-level customer programs, bridging engineering, manufacturing, customer advisory, and commercial execution to support customers scaling from prototype to production.
As a Strategic Solutions Engineer - CNC, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor for strategic customers with complex CNC manufacturing needs. Your responsibilities include leading technical scoping discussions, translating customer requirements into manufacturable solutions, and supporting customers through prototype to production transitions. You will perform detailed Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews, evaluate part geometry, tolerances, material selection, and finish requirements, and provide cost optimization recommendations. Additionally, you will guide on mechanical assemblies, assess part-to-part fit, fastener selection, and assembly sequencing, and collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Quality, and Line of Business teams.
The ideal candidate will have over six years of experience in manufacturing roles such as CNC machining, with a strong background in CNC machining processes (milling, turning, multi-axis) and casting. A Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience, is required. Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD, a solid understanding of mechanical assemblies, and experience supporting customer-facing technical discussions are essential. Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100D compliance environments, strong verbal and written communication skills, and a willingness to travel 30–40% are also important.
