Staff Software Engineer, Machine Learning
Peregrine Technologies is seeking a Staff Software Engineer specializing in Machine Learning to join our dynamic team in New York, NY. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a pivotal role in developing AI-driven solutions that transform complex, siloed data into actionable intelligence, empowering public safety organizations and private-sector institutions to make faster, more informed decisions. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing machine learning models that enhance our platform's capabilities, focusing on generative AI to create intuitive user experiences. Your day-to-day tasks will include scaling our platform to efficiently process terabytes of data from diverse sources, optimizing search algorithms for rapid result delivery, and ensuring real-time data querying and user notifications. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential to integrate these models seamlessly into our existing infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in computer science or a related field, with over eight years of experience in software development. Proficiency in Python, Django, Celery, Airflow, Kafka, React, Redux, Mapbox, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch is highly desirable. Experience with AWS, Pulumi, Terraform, Kubernetes, and a solid understanding of best practices for responsibly using generative AI, including applying large language models to enhance user experience, are also important. A passion for crafting and shipping software solutions that delight users, coupled with the ability to write robust, well-tested, and well-designed code, is essential.
We offer a competitive salary range of $200,000 to $275,000 annually, along with benefits, equity options, and potential bonuses.
