Staff Software Engineer, Innovation - Office of the CTO
Tenable, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join its global CTO group in Tel Aviv, Israel. This team is dedicated to advancing Tenable's cybersecurity solutions through the integration of artificial intelligence (AI). As part of this innovative group, the engineer will play a pivotal role in developing AI-driven security capabilities across Tenable's product portfolio.
In this role, the Staff Software Engineer will be responsible for designing and building end-to-end AI systems, including agent-based workflows, model integrations, backend services, data pipelines, and product-facing features. The engineer will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and research teams to explore new use cases, validate ideas rapidly, and implement impactful AI features into production. The position emphasizes rapid prototyping, experimentation, and innovation, with a focus on creating scalable solutions across multiple products and technology stacks.
Candidates should have at least 8 years of professional experience in software engineering, with significant hands-on experience in AI engineering or applied machine learning. Strong expertise in building AI-powered systems, including large language model (LLM)-based applications, agents, and orchestration workflows, is essential. Proficiency in multiple programming languages, including Python and at least one of the following:.NET, Go, or similar backend languages, is required. Experience with backend system design, APIs, distributed systems, databases (both relational and non-relational), and DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and cloud-based deployment, is also necessary.
