Staff Software Engineer, FinPlatform Backend
Flex is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our core platform team. As a growth-stage FinTech company headquartered in New York City, Flex is revolutionizing the rent payment experience by enabling users to pay rent throughout the month on a schedule that aligns with their finances and budget. Our mission is to empower renters with flexibility over their most significant recurring expense.
In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain our Finance service and internal tooling, including financial reporting and reconciliation processes. You will develop new APIs and functionalities to support large money movements across our banking partners via various payment rails, such as ACH. Additionally, you will scale out our core platform to support business growth while maintaining performance and reliability, continuously improving our daily operations with automation, tooling, design evolution, and observability.
The ideal candidate has over six years of experience in software development or a related field, with a strong background in technical leadership and guiding engineering teams through complex projects. Proficiency in Java, Python, Golang, or TypeScript/Node.js is required, along with experience in designing and developing fault-tolerant and scalable distributed systems. Familiarity with AWS cloud services, infrastructure as code tools like AWS CLI, AWS CDK, or Terraform, and strong communication skills are essential. Experience with finance reporting, reconciliation, and complex query and data mining is also desired.
Flex offers a competitive compensation package, with salaries ranging from $170,000 to $250,000, depending on location and experience.
