Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Credit Products (Square Financial Services)
As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer within Square Financial Services (SFS), you will play a pivotal role in developing and deploying machine learning models that drive our credit products. These products are essential to Block's mission of providing accessible financial services to underserved communities. Your work will directly influence the company's growth and profitability, operating at the intersection of regulated banking and advanced autonomous systems.
In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development of credit modeling solutions. This includes evaluating alternative external data sources, implementing advanced architectures to enhance predictive accuracy, and leading complex ML operations to scale data ingestion and enable sophisticated neural networks. You will also design and implement the full credit modeling stack, ensuring robust integration into production environments, and support team members in updating existing models and troubleshooting real-time production issues.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience in developing and deploying machine learning and statistical models in production environments, with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience. A degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or Engineering is required. Strong quantitative intuition, data visualization skills, and full-stack proficiency are preferred. Additionally, the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving are essential.
