Staff Firmware Engineer
Graphcore is seeking a Staff Firmware Engineer to join our Firmware Team in Bristol, UK. This role involves designing, developing, and delivering complex firmware systems for our next-generation hardware platforms. As part of a team of semiconductor, software, and AI experts, you'll contribute to building the future of AI compute.
In this position, you will provide technical leadership and act as a subject-matter expert for complex firmware features and architecture decisions. Your responsibilities include leading the design and development of scalable firmware solutions in C, owning critical low-level functionality such as boot flows and platform security, and performing advanced system debugging using tools like JTAG and oscilloscopes. Collaboration with hardware, silicon, platform, and external partners is essential to define requirements and resolve integration challenges.
The ideal candidate will have proven industry experience in embedded/firmware engineering using C/C++, expertise in designing real-time embedded systems and complex boot logic, and a strong understanding of modern silicon and hardware interfaces such as I2C, SPI, PCIe, and DDR. Excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to define and communicate architectural direction, and experience with CI/CD systems and modern software engineering practices are also required.
