Staff Engineer – Core Platform
The Staff Engineer – Core Platform at Interface AI is a pivotal role focused on architecting and scaling the distributed systems that underpin the company's next-generation AI experiences. Key responsibilities include designing and scaling low-latency, fault-tolerant distributed systems to serve real-time workloads. The engineer will architect microservices and event-driven systems that are secure, composable, and resilient under scale. Integration of vector databases and embedding stores to support intelligent retrieval and adaptive AI experiences is also a critical aspect of the role. Additionally, the position involves partnering with AI and product teams to embed large language models and inference services into the core platform, ensuring optimal performance and observability.
The ideal candidate should have over 8 years of experience in backend or platform engineering, with at least 2 years in high-scale B2C or distributed systems environments. A deep understanding of scalability, consistency, concurrency control, and fault tolerance is essential. Proven expertise in designing systems with strict service level agreements and sub-second response times is required. Strong experience in building, deploying, and maintaining service-oriented architectures with APIs, event streams, and asynchronous messaging is also necessary. Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Rust, Java, or Python, along with familiarity with modern frameworks like gRPC, GraphQL, and REST, is expected.
