Staff Database Engineer (DBA)

As a Staff Database Engineer (DBA) at Coupang, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining automated database infrastructures to ensure consistency and scalability. Your primary responsibilities will include setting up monitoring and logging systems to proactively detect and address potential issues, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. You will manage a diverse range of databases, including Aurora/MySQL, DynamoDB, and Mongo/DocumentDB, focusing on performance tuning, backups, disaster recovery strategies, and active/passive configurations within AWS. Additionally, you will lead the migration of Aurora MySQL to NewSQL and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to improve overall database processes.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with at least 10 years of expertise in database operations, emphasizing automation and scalable infrastructures. Proficiency in MySQL at a senior level, experience with NoSQL data stores such as DynamoDB and Cassandra, and a strong background in developing automation tools using Python are essential. Familiarity with NewSQL technologies, AWS-based data management, infrastructure as code using Terraform, CI/CD tools, networking concepts, and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is also required.
