Staff Data Analyst, Block Compliance
The Staff Data Analyst will join the Block Compliance Analytics team, which is dedicated to integrating data at the core of the Compliance organization. In this role, you will develop strategies and lead key workstreams to deliver actionable analytics to leaders throughout Block and effectively communicate the story of our Compliance program to regulators and external parties. By focusing on quantifying compliance risks and enhancing effectiveness, you will contribute to Block's mission of redefining the world's relationship with money.
Key responsibilities include leading data strategy for regulatory engagements, encompassing ETL development, source data validation, and analysis. You will connect regulatory expectations and commitments with Compliance and Product roadmaps to influence strategy. Additionally, you will utilize raw data to educate internal and external partners on the impact of new regulations, policies, or environmental changes on our compliance program and Block platforms. Collaboration with legal and engineering teams will be essential to inform strategic development of critical compliance program elements.
The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 6+ years with a Master's degree, or equivalent work experience. A minimum of 5 years of experience in Compliance or Anti-Money Laundering (AML) is required. Expertise in SQL and data analysis/visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker is essential, along with proficiency in ETL development. A proven track record of solving large and complex problems using deep and broad technical expertise is highly valued. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage projects in a fast-paced, evolving organization are also important.
Block offers a market-based approach to compensation, with pay varying depending on location. U.S. locations are categorized into four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The salary ranges are as follows:
- Zone A: $171,800—$257,600 USD
- Zone B: $159,800—$239,600 USD
- Zone C: $151,200—$226,800 USD
- Zone D: $142,600—$213,800 USD
