Staff AI Developer
Euna Solutions is seeking a Staff AI Developer to define and drive the technical direction of our grant research platform. This hands-on role involves shaping architecture, building critical systems, and advancing AI-enabled software development. The position focuses on two complementary systems: a multi-tenant, cloud-native SaaS application built with Ruby on Rails, and a Python-based data and discovery platform powered by FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Redis, and AI-driven ingestion workflows.
Key responsibilities include partnering with Product to translate roadmap priorities into technical designs and implementation plans, designing and implementing features across application, data, and infrastructure layers, and evolving core platform architecture across both Rails and Python systems. The role also involves making high-impact architectural decisions, building and optimizing high-scale background processing systems, developing workflows spanning APIs and ingestion pipelines, investigating production issues to improve platform reliability, implementing AI-powered features, leveraging AI-assisted development tools, documenting architectural decisions, and collaborating with various teams to continuously improve the platform.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Senior or Staff-level engineer building production SaaS or data platforms, deep expertise in Ruby on Rails, strong hands-on experience with Python (preferably FastAPI), and experience across both application platforms and data systems. Additional qualifications include a strong background in background processing systems, solid understanding of PostgreSQL schema design and performance optimization, experience designing and operating production APIs, comfort working in cloud-native, containerized environments, experience with search and discovery systems, a demonstrated AI-first development approach, strong understanding of security best practices, experience with CI/CD pipelines and testing frameworks, and excellent communication skills.
