Sr. Fire Protection Engineer
Lucid Motors is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team at our Casa Grande, Arizona facility. This role is integral to enhancing our fire protection engineering capabilities, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and supporting the development of critical EHS programs within our innovative electric vehicle manufacturing environment.
The Senior Fire Protection Engineer will independently develop innovative solutions to complex fire protection challenges. Key responsibilities include maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant codes and standards, such as IBC, IFC, and various NFPA standards. The role involves researching and applying fire protection codes to support manufacturing operations, collaborating with engineering design contractors on major capital projects, leading risk engineering practices, coordinating with property insurance field engineers, and interfacing with city officials for permitting and inspections. Additionally, the engineer will support the implementation and sustainability of process safety elements across the organization.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with at least 5 years of experience, a Master's degree with 3 years, or a PhD with 1 year of fire protection experience in building design and construction. Actively pursuing Fire Protection Engineering licensure is required. The role demands knowledge of automotive manufacturing EHS processes, understanding of lithium-ion battery storage and handling risks, experience in preparing technical reports, and proficiency in cross-functional consulting. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand or walk for over 10 hours per day, and climb stairs. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally is also necessary.
