The Sr. Associate General Counsel for Global Commercial Legal in Neuroscience at AbbVie is a pivotal role responsible for developing and executing legal strategies for AbbVie’s Neuroscience medicines. This position requires a blend of legal expertise and leadership to guide high-impact decisions across complex operational and commercial environments. As a trusted advisor to senior leaders, the role combines legal mastery with enterprise thinking to shape business outcomes, mentor legal talent, and drive initiatives that safeguard the company while enabling innovation.

Key responsibilities include serving as lead counsel to executive and senior leaders in AbbVie’s Neuroscience business unit, providing legal advice on topics such as new product/indication launches, patient support models, marketing strategies, promotion, scientific exchange, regulatory submissions, and managed healthcare contracting strategies. The role also involves providing substantive advice across departments including Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, and others concerning a broad range of legal, regulatory, and compliance issues, such as FDA regulations, False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, OIG guidance, the PhRMA Code, the Sunshine Act, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and competition law. Additionally, the position entails leading cross-functional legal projects aligned to enterprise strategic priorities, anticipating and navigating legal risks across business models, operations, and stakeholder relationships, and advising on government-related policy initiatives like the Inflation Reduction Act, 340b, and PBM reform.

The ideal candidate should possess a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in the job location. A minimum of 10+ years of legal experience, including a combination of in-house and law firm roles, is required. Demonstrated expertise in complex legal matters tied to commercial, regulatory, and operational priorities is essential. Experience advising executive-level stakeholders and leading cross-functional initiatives, strong business acumen with the ability to balance legal risk with enterprise outcomes, and experience managing or mentoring legal teams in matrixed environments are preferred.

Compensation for this role ranges from $206,500 to $393,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
