Solutions Test Engineer
Arista Networks is seeking a Solutions Test Engineer to join our team dedicated to ensuring the quality and reliability of our networking products. In this role, you will collaborate with software and hardware engineers, field support teams, product managers, and software test engineers to analyze customer requirements, develop test plans, and validate that our products meet customer expectations. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in the rapidly evolving fields of cloud IT services and virtualization technologies.
As a Solutions Test Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include collaborating with various stakeholders to understand requirements and expectations, planning and building network topologies to test use cases, configuring hardware and tools to emulate required environments, executing comprehensive test plans focusing on performance and scalability, troubleshooting failures, and working with development teams on root cause analysis and bug documentation. Additionally, you will communicate results to stakeholders, provide feedback on design improvements, interact with sales teams and customers to address inquiries, and assist the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) team with escalations when needed.
The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of experience in a system or solution test role, handling complex end-to-end environments. A strong understanding of layer 2 and layer 3 technologies such as IP forwarding, IP multicast, OSPF, BGP, VXLAN, MPLS, eVPN, ECMP, VRRP, STP, RSTP, MST, PVST+, Ethernet link aggregation, and LACP is essential. Proficiency in layer-2/3 switch administration, including industry-standard CLI and SNMP interfaces, is required. Familiarity with Linux tools like ping, traceroute, tcpdump, and scripting languages such as Python or TCL is also desirable. Strong written and oral communication skills, a drive to improve quality, and a curiosity to learn new technologies are key attributes for success in this role.
Arista Networks offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $130,000 to $187,000, depending on factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and equity.
