Solutions Engineer, Robotics
The Solutions Engineer, Robotics role at Scale AI is a pivotal position within the Robotics team, focusing on advancing artificial intelligence into the physical world through robotics and autonomous systems. This role involves building deep technical relationships with innovative model builders and leading robotics companies, guiding them through the pre-sales process, and delivering customized demonstrations and pilots to secure technical wins. The Solutions Engineer will define customer technical requirements, develop actionable Statements of Work, and collaborate with delivery teams for initial implementations.
Key responsibilities include partnering with Account Executives and Engagement Managers to deliver new customer pilots and enhance technical relationships with existing clients. The role also involves working closely with Product Engineering and Product Management to influence the product roadmap based on frontline insights. Becoming a domain expert in next-generation robotics and physical AI, such as Vision-Language Models (VLMs), Vision-Language Actions (VLAs), and World Models, is essential. Additionally, the Solutions Engineer will be accountable for the technical customer experience and commercial growth, expanding relationships and use cases with existing customers. Collaboration with highly technical engineers at customer sites to ensure satisfaction with data, software platforms, and workflows is also a key aspect of the role.
The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background, preferably in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or other engineering fields. A minimum of 3 years of experience developing with Python, C++, Java, or other scripting languages is required. Hands-on experience in robotics and physical AI is essential. Exceptional project management and interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail, and a strong sense of ownership are necessary. The candidate should possess presentation skills and technical credibility to speak confidently with a variety of stakeholders, from executives to front-line engineers. A high level of comfort communicating effectively across internal and external organizations is also important. Regular travel within the Bay Area and international travel approximately once every two months are expected. Intellectual curiosity, empathy, and the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy are valued traits.
Compensation packages at Scale AI for eligible roles include base salary, equity, and benefits. The base salary range for this full-time position in San Francisco is $180,000 to $225,000 USD.
