This role involves close collaboration with software development engineers, hardware engineers, field support engineers, product managers, and software test engineers to analyze customer requirements, develop software test plans, and ensure our products meet customer expectations. Additionally, the position includes working with customer support and engineering teams to address escalated customer issues by reproducing and debugging them in the lab.

Key responsibilities include understanding the Arista Wi-Fi cloud architecture and its components, gathering technical requirements, participating in functional specification and software design reviews, and validating that the product meets customer requirements. The engineer will "own" the feature and product, serving as the subject matter expert for deliverables. Responsibilities also encompass being the first point of contact for field escalations, reproducing issues locally, and driving them to resolution by coordinating with various teams. Building and maintaining Wi-Fi labs to design and deploy complex networks that mimic customer environments, testing end-to-end solutions encompassing wired and wireless deployments, and conducting interoperability testing between Arista access points and enterprise-grade clients and custom Wi-Fi equipment are also part of the role.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, IT, or a related field, with 5 to 15 years of experience in troubleshooting wired or wireless networks and debugging complex software. Hands-on experience with Wi-Fi technologies, including RF and L1 intricacies, Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi 6, and Wi-Fi 5, is mandatory. Experience with features developed on top of underlying Wi-Fi, such as tunneling data path traffic, is also required. The candidate should have strong troubleshooting and debugging skills, proven expertise in creating test methodologies and writing test plans, solid knowledge of networking fundamentals across the OSI stack, and strong knowledge of Linux systems and networking tools. Experience with cloud and virtualization technologies is a plus, as is basic knowledge of RESTful APIs, JSON, and SQL. Excellent written and oral English communication skills are essential.
