Software Engineer - SONiC
Arista Networks is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Software for Open Networking in the Cloud (SONiC) development team. As a key member of this team, you will contribute to building and qualifying features that power some of the world's largest data center networks. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, high-caliber environment focused on delivering cutting-edge networking solutions.
In this position, you will be responsible for writing functional and design specifications for system software that manages hardware components. Your day-to-day tasks will include implementing solutions using C, C++, and Python, developing automated test programs, debugging issues identified by automated tests, and collaborating with Customer Support Engineers to analyze and resolve problems in customer networks. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers and contribute to the broader SONiC community by reviewing and upstreaming code changes.
The ideal candidate will possess a BSc, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering, along with at least 2 years of relevant post-graduate work experience. Proficiency in C, C++, and/or Python, as well as knowledge of UNIX or Linux, is essential. A solid understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, including familiarity with IP routing protocols such as RIP, OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, or PIM, is desirable. Experience with packet forwarding engines and hardware component software libraries is also beneficial.
Arista offers a competitive base salary ranging from $95,000 to $145,000, depending on factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and equity.
