Software Engineer (Packet Forwarding Engines)
Arista Networks is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Packet Forwarding Engines (PFE) and System Software team. This team is responsible for developing and delivering software that manages complex networking ASICs, integral to building the industry's largest data center networks. Your contributions will be a key component of Arista's Extensible Operating System (EOS), our unique Linux-based network operating system that runs on all Arista data center networking products.
In this role, you will write functional and design specifications for packet forwarding engine features and system software to manage hardware components. You will implement solutions using C, C++, and Python, and develop automated tests to ensure software quality. Additionally, you will collaborate with hardware teams and component vendors to bring up new systems, and work with customer support engineers to analyze and resolve issues in customer networks.
The ideal candidate will have strong software engineering fundamentals and a good understanding of ASIC-based packet forwarding engines and hardware components such as temperature sensors and fan controllers. Experience with low-level hardware drivers, hardware component vendor-provided software libraries, and network environments is essential. Proficiency in C, C++, and Python programming languages is required.
