Software Engineer - Optimization

The Software Engineer - Optimization role at WPP Media involves developing and maintaining full-stack applications using React and Node.js, with a focus on integrating data and analytics pipelines. The position is based in Hyderabad, India, and is part of a high-autonomy team that emphasizes agentic engineering practices. WPP Media is WPP's AI-driven media operating unit, dedicated to delivering creative personalization at scale.

Key responsibilities include building and maintaining end-to-end features across React (frontend) and TypeScript-based backend services (Node.js, NestJS), implementing and evolving RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs, utilizing Python for backend services and data processing, designing and optimizing schemas and queries in PostgreSQL and MySQL, and applying test-driven development (TDD) and automated testing practices. Collaboration with product, design, and data teams to deliver measurable outcomes is also essential.

The ideal candidate should have expert-level proficiency in TypeScript with extensive experience in React and modern Node.js backend development, be a capable Python developer, possess strong SQL skills with experience in PostgreSQL and MySQL, have a proven track record in TDD and automated testing, and be experienced in deploying and operating production systems in cloud-native environments. A solid understanding of asynchronous programming, performance, and reliability in both Node.js and browser environments is also required.
