Software Engineer, Data Platforms
Checkr is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our Data Platform team in Santiago, Chile. This team plays a pivotal role in our mission by developing and maintaining scalable data platforms that support fair and secure hiring decisions. As a Data Engineer, you will work on Checkr's centralized data platform, which is integral to our company's vision and serves as the backbone for all our key customer-facing products. You will engage in high-impact projects that directly contribute to the next generation of our core product.
In this role, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining data pipelines and datasets essential for product and business needs. You will design and build database architectures capable of handling large and complex data, balancing computational load and cost. Your duties will also include developing large-scale data quality audits with appropriate alerting mechanisms, creating scalable dashboards and reports to support business objectives, diagnosing and resolving complex production issues, and collaborating closely with Product Managers and other stakeholders to define and implement new features.
The ideal candidate will have advanced English proficiency and availability to work in a hybrid model in Santiago. You should possess over two years of experience in software development within the field of data engineering, with strong proficiency in Python and SQL. Experience with big data technologies such as Kafka, Spark, Iceberg, Data Lake, AWS Glue, Athena, or S3 is required. Familiarity with large-scale data processing, including both batch and streaming ETL/ELT processes, is essential. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, advanced communication abilities in English, and a high-performance mindset with a bias for action are also necessary. Experience or knowledge of data processing platforms like Databricks or Snowflake is desirable.
