Software Engineer, Backend
Waymo is seeking a Software Engineer, Backend to join the RO Performance team in Warsaw, Masovian Voivodeship, Poland. This team is pivotal in analyzing and enhancing the performance of Waymo's autonomous driving technology by processing extensive data from real-world driving logs and simulations. The insights generated directly influence operational rollouts and the overall safety and reliability of Waymo's self-driving vehicles.
In this role, you will design and operate high-performance, low-latency data pipelines for large-scale simulation and real-world monitoring. You will work to improve the fidelity of driving tests by ensuring simulation results accurately predict real-world behavior and implement metrics to measure simulation accuracy. Additionally, you will deploy and potentially contribute to machine learning models that identify significant driving scenarios, optimizing testing efficiency through robust integrations with large-scale models.
The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of full-time software engineering experience or a quantitative PhD with at least 2 years of professional software engineering experience. Proficiency in C++ or another object-oriented programming language is required, along with familiarity in Python and SQL. A strong interest in autonomous driving, simulation, and evaluation is essential.
