Software Engineer
Arista Networks is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Platform team, which operates at the intersection of hardware and software. This team is responsible for developing the foundational code that powers our networking ASICs and supporting infrastructure, ensuring ultra-low-latency, high-performance networking, and robust hardware reliability.
In this role, you will engage in programming ASICs with extensive registers and tables, implementing large-scale latency analysis and event tracking, and developing software agents that mediate between networking ASICs, FPGAs, and PCIe bridges. Additionally, you will optimize lasers, error correction, and quality of service for global networks, evaluate new CPUs, collaborate with CPU/BIOS vendors to integrate their stacks into our operating system, and qualify and bring up supporting hardware components such as PCIe memory and thermal controllers into our products.
The ideal candidate will possess strong engineering and computer science fundamentals, with over five years of experience in C or C++ programming; Python experience is a plus. A solid understanding of Linux OS internals, kernel architecture, and device driver models is essential. Proven experience interacting with low-level hardware interfaces and communication protocols, including I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, GPIO, and IPMI, is also required.
Arista offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $95,000 to $145,000, which varies based on work location to ensure market competitiveness. The actual base pay will be determined by factors such as skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location. In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and equity.
