Software Architect - Containers / Virtualisation
Canonical is seeking a Software Architect to lead the development of LXD and MicroCloud, key components in their cloud infrastructure offerings. LXD is a modern system container and virtual machine orchestrator, while MicroCloud combines LXD with Ceph and OVN to create a resilient, easy-to-use cluster-scale cloud infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on cloud computing technologies within a globally distributed team.
The Software Architect will be responsible for guiding the architecture and design of LXD and MicroCloud, mentoring and advising team members, developing in Golang and C, reviewing code, and ensuring the security and performance of the products. The position also involves displaying technical leadership within Canonical and its communities, and participating in global company events twice annually.
Candidates should possess an exceptional academic track record, with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field. Required skills include experience with Go and C programming languages, storage, networking, virtualization, container technologies, and concurrent, distributed systems. Strong organizational skills, a self-starting attitude, and professional communication abilities are essential. Proficiency in Linux, particularly Debian or Ubuntu, and excellent interpersonal skills are also required.
