Signal Integrity Engineer
As a Signal Integrity Engineer at Graphcore, you will be instrumental in developing and simulating printed circuit board (PCB) structures to ensure optimal performance of high-speed interfaces, including 112Gbps SERDES and DDR. This role involves close collaboration with PCB and package substrate CAD engineers to design component signal launches, layer transition via structures, and cable interconnects. You will also define low-loss materials for future designs and work alongside the system architecture team and suppliers to achieve the best possible performance. Proficiency in high-speed PCB simulation tools and familiarity with industry best practices in high-speed digital system design are essential.
Key responsibilities include developing PCB structures for high-frequency SERDES and DDR interfaces, defining PCB stack-ups, and conducting system, PCB, and substrate-level simulations and analyses of signal and power integrity. You will define interface requirements for Graphcore's integrated circuit devices, manage tool and vendor relationships, establish PCB design requirements and constraints, supervise PCB layout, and oversee prototype bring-up, evaluation, validation, and system testing.
The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience in high-speed digital circuit development, with a deep understanding of signal and power supply integrity. Essential qualifications include knowledge of high-speed circuit design requirements to ensure signal integrity and robust rejection of interference and crosstalk, experience with high-frequency SERDES design and validation, and proficiency with tools such as ANSYS SIWave, HFSS, and Mentor HyperLynx. Experience in high-speed processor system design with interfaces like SERDES, PCI, DDR, and Ethernet is also required. The role demands extensive practical work in the lab, including bringing up, debugging, and validating designs, as well as expertise in using vector network analyzers, high-speed digital oscilloscopes, and signal generators. A rigorous approach to ensure designs work correctly the first time, independent working, and excellent cooperative and communication skills are essential.
Graphcore offers a competitive salary, flexible working arrangements, a generous annual leave policy, private medical insurance, a health cash plan, a dental plan, pension matching up to 5%, life assurance, and income protection. Additional benefits include a generous parental leave policy, an employee assistance program covering health, mental wellbeing, and bereavement support, and a range of healthy food and snacks at the central Bristol office, which also features a barista bar.
