Senior System Validation Engineer
Graphcore is seeking a Senior System Validation Engineer to design and implement validation tests for Arm-based data center SoCs. This role involves utilizing open-source benchmarking tools and custom micro-benchmarks to ensure the performance and reliability of Graphcore's AI compute platforms. The position is based in Austin, Texas, and offers the opportunity to work within a diverse team dedicated to advancing artificial intelligence computing systems.
The Senior System Validation Engineer will be responsible for translating hardware features into structured, parameterized test cases, including defining objectives, workload models, parameters, metrics, and pass/fail criteria. Key tasks include using and tuning open-source tools such as stress-ng, fio, iperf, and sysbench; defining workload parameters like concurrency, memory footprint, and access patterns; designing and executing validation scenarios encompassing functional, performance, stress, and corner-case testing; and developing custom micro-benchmarks in C/C++ when existing tools are insufficient. Additionally, the role involves using Python to automate test execution, implement parameter sweeps, parse, analyze, and visualize results, and collaborate with hardware and firmware teams to debug system behavior and performance issues.
Candidates should have a strong background in Linux systems and low-level performance analysis, experience in system validation, benchmarking, or performance testing, and a solid understanding of domains such as CPU architecture, memory systems, or PCIe. Proficiency in Python for automation and data analysis, as well as programming experience in C/C++ for micro-benchmark development, is essential. Desirable qualifications include experience with Arm-based platforms, familiarity with performance tools like perf, numactl, and taskset, and experience with large-scale or high core-count systems.
