Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer - Clinical - AI Teams (x/f/m)
Doctolib is seeking a Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer to join our Clinical AI team, focusing on enhancing clinical decision-making and patient care through advanced AI systems. This role involves leading the development of AI solutions that integrate seamlessly into healthcare environments, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficacy. As part of a cross-functional team, you will collaborate with machine learning engineers, product engineers, and medical experts to build and deploy AI models that interact with complex healthcare data.
In this position, you will define and own the long-term technical roadmap for clinical machine learning systems, from model architecture selection to production deployment patterns. Responsibilities include leading the design and implementation of large language model-powered clinical agents, establishing rigorous evaluation frameworks using real-world clinical datasets, and building production infrastructure with robust monitoring and observability. Additionally, you will drive strategic build-versus-buy decisions and define standards for safe rollout in healthcare contexts, such as shadow testing and human-in-the-loop workflows.
The ideal candidate holds a PhD in Computer Science, AI, Statistics, or a related field, with over 10 years of experience in machine learning and AI, including at least 3 years at a Staff or Principal level leading complex, multi-team technical initiatives. Deep expertise in areas such as clinical natural language processing, large language model fine-tuning and evaluation, automatic speech recognition, retrieval-augmented generation systems, or reinforcement learning is essential. Proficiency in Python, PyTorch/Transformers for training, and experience deploying machine learning systems in production environments like AWS or GCP are required. Exceptional communication skills and the ability to align diverse stakeholders are also crucial.
