Senior/Staff Data Platform Engineer - (Bangkok based, relocation provided)

Agoda is seeking a Senior/Staff Data Platform Engineer to lead the technical direction and operations of our analytics database and business intelligence (BI) platforms. This role is based in Bangkok, Thailand, with relocation assistance provided. Agoda, part of Booking Holdings, is a global online travel platform connecting travelers with a vast network of accommodations, flights, and experiences worldwide.

In this position, you will own critical database and BI infrastructure end-to-end, focusing on architecture, performance, reliability, and security. Key responsibilities include designing and evolving Agoda’s BI data warehouse architecture across platforms such as SQL Server DW, Vertica, and StarRocks, leading migration and modernization projects, defining and implementing data and query engine standards, and ensuring system uptime and optimal data visualization experiences for users.

The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in data engineering, database engineering, or platform engineering, with significant experience managing production OLAP/BI databases at scale. Strong expertise with modern MPP/columnar systems like StarRocks, Vertica, or similar, along with solid SQL Server experience, is essential. Proficiency in query execution internals, performance tuning, capacity planning, and a solid understanding of data warehouse and ETL concepts are also required.
