Senior / Staff 3D Engine Software Engineer - Simulation
Zoox is seeking a Senior or Staff 3D Engine Software Engineer to join our 3D Sensor Simulation team in Foster City, California. This team is integral to developing in-the-loop simulations and high-fidelity synthetic data essential for training and testing our autonomous vehicle AI systems. The role focuses on leveraging both modern 3D graphics techniques and traditional rendering methods to enhance our simulation capabilities.
In this position, you will design, implement, and validate 3D rendering software tailored for sensor simulation within our autonomous vehicle simulation pipelines. Collaboration with the Synthetic Data and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Simulation teams will be key to developing innovative applications that integrate 3D graphics systems with polygonal mesh assets. Additionally, you will optimize the performance and realism of real-time 3D sensor simulations, including those for cameras, lidar, and radar. Partnering with Simulation Verification and Validation engineers, you will work to improve metrics ranging from individual sensor fidelity to real-world autonomous vehicle safety reports. Leading 3D simulation engineers, you will establish best practices to enhance the trustworthiness and test coverage of both software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop simulation use cases.
The ideal candidate will have over two years of experience as a Technical Lead and more than seven years of experience in developing with C++, Python, and GPU programming. Proficiency in integrating 3D graphics systems implementations with traditional 3D graphics rendering is essential, along with expertise in GPU programming, such as Compute shaders or CUDA. A solid understanding of high-performance real-time simulation pipelines is also required.
The base salary for this position ranges from $245,000 to $305,000 annually. Compensation includes three major components: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may also be offered as part of the compensation package.
