Senior Solution Engineer-SLED NorCal
The Senior Solution Engineer for State, Local, and Higher Education (SLED) in Northern California at Tanium plays a pivotal role in transforming how public sector organizations manage and secure their critical operations. This position is integral to the SLED Solution Engineering team, collaborating closely with Sales and Customer Success teams to engage both current and prospective public sector clients. The role involves leading the technology evaluation phase of the sales cycle, delivering platform demonstrations, and conducting comprehensive Proof of Value (POV) engagements tailored to the unique requirements of SLED entities.
In this capacity, the Senior Solution Engineer will engage in interactive pre-sales discovery meetings, analyze clients' existing technology and architecture, and assess their operational and business needs. The engineer will develop and present appropriate Tanium solutions, leading in-depth technical discussions to position Tanium's enterprise operations and security platform effectively. This involves translating public sector business and mission challenges into technical solutions that align with operating, budgetary, and regulatory constraints.
Candidates should possess over six years of experience in endpoint operations or security, with at least four years in customer-facing or support roles. A strong background in software pre-sales or value-based technical selling within large enterprise or public sector environments is essential. Proven success in supporting State, Local Government, and/or Higher Education sectors is required. The role demands experience presenting to various stakeholders, from C-suite executives to frontline practitioners, and familiarity with public sector procurement processes. A working knowledge of compliance frameworks relevant to SLED, such as CJIS, IRS Pub 1075, HIPAA, FERPA, StateRAMP, and CIS Controls, is advantageous. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field is mandatory.
The compensation package includes an annual base salary ranging from $146,000 to $224,000, with additional commission eligibility and equity awards.
