Senior Software Engineer - Platform Workflows team
Canva is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Platform Workflows team, a key component of the Developer Workflows subgroup. This team focuses on empowering platform engineers and developers working on internal capabilities to deliver value quickly, safely, and confidently. By building workflows that accelerate platform development, the team ensures that Canva's infrastructure can rapidly evolve to meet the needs of all engineers.
In this role, you will deeply understand the needs and workflows of platform engineers and other users of Canva's infrastructure platform. Your responsibilities will include developing software patterns and archetypes that allow engineers to iterate quickly, integrating seamlessly with Canva's software ecosystem and infrastructure platform. You will write tools, services, configurations, and other necessary components to ensure a low-friction experience for platform engineers shipping new services and capabilities. Additionally, you will consult with internal users and other platform teams to bring clarity and alignment, participate in planning rituals to prioritize the needs of platform engineers and infrastructure consumers, and work alongside product managers to bring a product mindset to platform engineering at Canva.
The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go. Strong experience with Kubernetes, ideally including Custom Resource Definitions, is essential. Solid experience with AWS or GCP cloud environments is also required. While prior work in a platform engineering capacity is desired, it is not mandatory. Experience with AI tooling for software engineering, such as Cursor or Claude Code, is considered a plus.
