Senior Software Engineer, Data Backend(Data Platform)
Appier is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Data Platform team in Taipei, Taiwan. As a leading AI-driven SaaS company, Appier empowers businesses to make data-driven decisions. In this role, you will be instrumental in building and scaling our data infrastructure, working on mission-critical systems that process massive datasets.
Your primary responsibilities will include designing, developing, and maintaining production data pipelines that handle hundreds of terabytes of data daily across distributed systems. You will build, manage, and optimize large-scale data platforms, including Spark and Kafka clusters, and develop data warehouse systems and ETL pipelines for data collection, processing, storage, and analytics. Additionally, you will profile and tune the performance of critical components to optimize throughput, reduce latency, and improve resource efficiency.
The ideal candidate will possess a BS/MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, with over 2 years of hands-on experience in building and operating large-scale distributed systems. Proficiency in Java and/or Scala for production-level development is required, along with proven experience in building ETL pipelines and data processing workflows using Apache Spark. Experience in managing and optimizing data lakes or data warehouses at scale is also essential. The candidate should be self-motivated, capable of working independently in dynamic environments, and have experience deploying and managing infrastructure on public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Preferred qualifications include proficiency in Python and/or Golang for building production systems, experience in profiling and optimizing JVM performance for high-throughput applications, and hands-on experience managing and operating data platforms such as Hadoop, Kafka, Flink, Hive, Trino, Presto, or ClickHouse. Knowledge of modern open table formats, including Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, or Hudi, is also advantageous. Active contributions to open-source projects are highly valued.
