Senior Security Engineer - Detection & Response (remote across Australia)
Canva is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to join its Detection & Response team, focusing on enhancing the company's security posture through advanced detection and response strategies. This role is integral to safeguarding Canva's cloud-native infrastructure by developing and implementing security solutions that scale with the company's rapid growth.
The Senior Security Engineer will lead incident response coordination, acting as the primary escalation point for security incidents. Responsibilities include investigating and triaging security alerts, coordinating containment and recovery activities, and contributing to post-incident reviews to improve detection and response processes. The role also involves building and maintaining automation workflows and response playbooks to streamline operations and reduce response times.
Candidates should have demonstrable experience in incident response, digital forensics, or security operations, with a proven track record of managing security events from detection through resolution. Proficiency with enterprise security platforms such as SIEM (e.g., Elastic Security, Splunk), EDR (e.g., SentinelOne, CrowdStrike), and SOAR platforms is essential. A strong investigative mindset, ability to make risk-based decisions under pressure, and proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Go are also required.
