Senior Regulatory Counsel
The Senior Regulatory Counsel at DRW's cryptoasset arm, Cumberland, will provide legal and regulatory guidance on new business opportunities and daily operations. This role involves offering strategic direction on initiatives such as on-exchange and over-the-counter trading, venture capital investments, and strategic partnerships. The position is based in Chicago or Washington D.C., with consideration for other U.S. locations based on experience.
Key responsibilities include delivering practical legal advice, collaborating with Cumberland's executive team to develop innovative opportunities in the crypto space, and working across various functional groups to achieve strategic objectives. The role also entails monitoring legislative and regulatory developments affecting Cumberland's business and engaging with industry groups, policymakers, and regulators as needed.
Candidates should possess a J.D. from an accredited law school, admission to a state bar, and 5-10 years of legal experience focusing on financial laws and regulations, particularly those of the SEC and CFTC. Experience with both cryptoassets and traditional financial products is essential, along with an understanding of U.S. regulatory regimes applicable to cryptoasset trading. The ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders is crucial.
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $150,000 to $275,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Additional compensation includes an annual discretionary bonus.
