Senior QA Engineer - Pro Design
The Senior QA Engineer role at Canva focuses on enhancing the quality of the Pro Design team’s projects. This position is integral to Canva's mission of redefining how the world experiences design. The role is based in London, United Kingdom, within Canva's vibrant campus in Hoxton Square, Shoreditch. Key responsibilities include leading quality improvement initiatives within the embedded team, collaborating with stakeholders to implement process, tooling, and testing enhancements. The Senior QA Engineer will develop comprehensive test strategies emphasizing shift-left QA activities, ensuring quality is integrated early in the development process. Additionally, the role involves serving as the subject matter expert for testing and product knowledge, promoting knowledge sharing and documentation among software engineers and QA personnel. The engineer will also model initiative and ownership, working with other Senior QA engineers to define expectations and upskill team members.
The ideal candidate is proactive, results-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Experience working with product teams to define QA processes is essential, including assessing current development processes, identifying opportunities for quality integration, and advocating for process improvements. Strong communication skills are required to articulate technical concepts and engage effectively with stakeholders. Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining robust test automation frameworks, testing complex web and mobile applications, and backend services is crucial. A meticulous approach to work, passion for testing, and experience in coaching team members on testing best practices are also important. Proficiency in test automation principles across various levels and scripting languages like Bash or Python is expected.
Preferred qualifications include experience with creative software, particularly in areas like animation and data visualization, familiarity with test frameworks such as Cypress or Playwright, and exposure to emerging technologies like machine learning model testing and accessibility testing.
