Senior Product & Privacy Counsel
Mesh is seeking a Senior Product & Privacy Counsel to serve as the primary legal advisor to its product, engineering, and design teams. This role involves providing comprehensive legal guidance from product ideation through launch, covering areas such as privacy, intellectual property, financial regulation, and consumer protection. The position is based in New York, NY, and offers an opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams in a dynamic, startup environment.
Key responsibilities include advising on privacy and data protection by design, managing product intellectual property matters, supporting patent strategy, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations applicable to Mesh's products. The role also involves drafting and negotiating product-related terms, partnering with various departments to align product decisions with the company's licensing posture and risk appetite, and building scalable processes for product legal review.
Candidates should possess a Juris Doctor (JD) and active membership in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar, with a minimum of 6 years of relevant legal experience, including significant in-house time advising product teams. Experience in fintech, payments, crypto, or another regulated technology environment is preferred. A working knowledge of privacy and data protection laws, intellectual property as it applies to software products, and U.S. financial regulations is essential. A practical, risk-based approach and strong cross-functional collaboration skills are also important.
The compensation range for this role is between $250,000 and $280,000 USD annually. Additional benefits and equity options are available, with specific details to be discussed during the interview process.
