True Classic is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to lead its global legal strategy, encompassing corporate governance, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, privacy, employment, marketing, and commercial contracting. This role involves serving as a trusted advisor to leadership and founders, proactively managing legal risks, and establishing scalable legal frameworks that support sustainable growth and innovation across the business.

As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide strategic legal leadership by advising executive leadership and founders on critical business initiatives, anticipating legal risks and opportunities, and translating complex legal concepts into practical, business-oriented guidance. You will manage corporate governance processes, oversee global regulatory compliance programs across various domains, and monitor evolving legal and regulatory developments to provide actionable business guidance.

The role also involves overseeing the company’s global intellectual property portfolio, including prosecution, brand protection, and enforcement, leading the development and maintenance of privacy policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with applicable global privacy and data protection regulations. Additionally, you will structure, draft, and negotiate a high volume of commercial agreements, advise the HR team on employment law matters, and support Marketing and Product teams with risk assessments and campaign reviews.

To qualify, candidates should be a qualified attorney and a member of the California Bar (in good standing) or eligible to register as California Registered In-House Counsel, with 6-8 years of experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department. Experience in the technology/e-commerce sectors and in implementing and administering compliance programs is advantageous. Strong problem-solving capabilities, judgment, communication skills, and the ability to provide pragmatic, business-oriented advice while balancing risks and rewards are essential. Candidates should be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, rapidly-growing workplace and have a desire to grow and expand their skill set.

The compensation package includes a salary range of $170,000 to $200,000, plus bonus, along with unlimited PTO and sick time.
