Formlabs is seeking a Senior Industrial Designer to join their Hardware Engineering team in Somerville, MA. The Industrial Design team focuses on creating accessible and productive user experiences, reflecting the brand's values through functional and aesthetically pleasing products. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with designers, engineers, and scientists to impact a rapidly emerging class of products.

The Senior Industrial Designer will be responsible for designing new products from concept to production, developing design concepts with clear visual communication, and continuously prototyping from quick mockups to refined models. The role includes testing designs with users and translating feedback into the design process, defining and refining the hardware user experience from unboxing to maintenance, creating high-quality CAD to communicate design intent, collaborating closely with Product, UI Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams, and assisting with cosmetic specification and validation.

Candidates should possess a university degree in Industrial Design and have 3-5 years of design experience in high-tech industries, ideally within electromechanical systems, consumer products, or robotics. They should demonstrate capability in aesthetic decision-making and attention to detail, have good presentation and storytelling skills, be able to communicate effectively with hand sketches, and be highly capable in 3D CAD, Keyshot, and Adobe CC. Comfort with various prototyping methods and experience solving problems with engineering and manufacturability constraints are also required.
