Senior Industrial Designer
Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Industrial Designer to join their Design Team in Costa Mesa, California. This team is responsible for the company's brand identity, visual communication, concept art, and industrial design, aiming to connect the mission, people, and products to elevate the Anduril brand. The Senior Industrial Designer will collaborate closely with engineering and fabrication teams to design and execute hardware solutions for Anduril's products.
The role involves conceptualizing, visualizing, and developing products and prototypes that meet real-world requirements for manufacturability and operator use. The designer will rapidly execute end-to-end industrial design cycles, manage multiple design efforts simultaneously, and partner with designers, product architects, and mechanical engineers to establish a cohesive form language across hardware. Responsibilities also include communicating design intent through sketching and 3D CAD modeling, supporting form language development, participating in design reviews, creating product renderings with photorealistic textures and lighting, defining color, material, and finish, and validating designs using mockups and physical prototyping. Additionally, the designer will communicate with external suppliers, vendors, and teams.
Candidates must have a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in Product or Industrial Design, or an equivalent field. A portfolio demonstrating exceptional craft and proficiency in ideation, 2D/3D visualization, and prototyping or production experience is required. The role demands excellent application of material surfacing, dimensionality, composition, scale, and form, along with a deep understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability. Knowledge of general military applications and mechanical authenticity is a plus. Expertise in industry-standard 3D modeling and rendering software such as SolidWorks, Rhino, NX, Keyshot, C4D, or equivalent is essential. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, marketing, and business development teams are also necessary. The candidate must work on-site at the headquarters and be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.
The position offers a salary range of $166,000 to $220,000 USD, with actual offers varying based on factors such as work experience, education, critical skills, and business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in most full-time offers as part of Anduril's total compensation package. Additional benefits for full-time employees include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans at little to no cost, income protection through life and disability insurance, generous time off with a holiday hiatus in December, caregiver and wellness leave, family planning and parenting support, mental health resources, professional development reimbursement, commuter benefits, and relocation assistance where eligible. Retirement savings plans, including 401(k) options in the U.S., are also available.
