Senior Database Reliability Engineer
As a Senior Database Reliability Engineer at Checkr, you will be responsible for managing cloud database and data storage infrastructure, implementing backup policies and processes, overseeing data lifecycle management, and performing performance tuning and troubleshooting across various database platforms. You will collaborate with software teams to enhance their understanding and efficient use of our database systems.
Key responsibilities include designing and recommending database architectures that ensure resiliency, durability, and high availability; provisioning and administering database and related cloud resources using Infrastructure as Code; maintaining and troubleshooting database systems in production, staging, and sandbox environments; optimizing database performance at the query, schema, and instance levels; and implementing security best practices for data stores. Additionally, you will automate common database tasks to reduce manual toil and work closely with the Site Reliability Engineering team to improve observability of the database schema and infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience with relational database concepts, storage systems, and architectures. Advanced expertise in administering and replicating Postgres, MySQL, and MongoDB databases at scale is essential. Experience with AWS cloud databases such as RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, ElasticCache, and MongoDB Atlas is required. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to guide software engineers through database best practices related to security, schema design, and migrations at scale. Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform and Terragrunt, along with an automation mindset to minimize manual interventions, is also expected.

The base salary range for this position in Denver, CO, is $139,000 to $164,000 USD.
