Waymo is seeking a Senior Counsel to lead legal initiatives across Japan and the broader Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. In this role, the Senior Counsel will serve as the lead attorney for various projects in Japan and the APAC region, providing comprehensive legal support to global teams. Responsibilities include overseeing commercial deals, advocacy, event response, employment matters, and dispute resolution. The position also involves offering strategic guidance on legal, business, corporate strategy, and governance issues pertinent to the region, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to develop and implement effective strategies.
Candidates should possess a law degree (LLB, LLM, or JD) and be admitted to practice law in Japan. A minimum of eight years of legal experience is required, with at least four years practicing law in Japan. Experience in assisting international technology companies with introducing novel products and services into Japan and other APAC countries is essential. Fluency in both Japanese and English is mandatory. Preferred qualifications include experience in the automotive or ride-hailing industry, in-house counsel experience, and additional admissions to practice law in other APAC countries.
