Senior Counsel - Product & Privacy
Together AI is seeking a Senior Counsel to establish the legal and compliance framework for our AI infrastructure and customer-facing products. This role involves collaborating with teams across Product, Engineering, Research, Security, Infrastructure, and Sales to facilitate rapid development while managing legal risks. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in product, privacy, export controls, and patent and licensing strategies, with a keen interest in AI technologies such as inference, fine-tuning, and GPU infrastructure.
In this position, you will partner with Product and Engineering teams from the early stages to integrate legal considerations into new AI offerings, including inference, fine-tuning, GPU clusters, and platform services. Responsibilities include drafting and maintaining customer-facing product terms, advising on AI infrastructure-specific legal issues like model hosting, third-party model licenses, data use, and ownership, and developing tools that enable swift business operations without legal bottlenecks. Additionally, you will provide guidance on open-source and model licensing, and manage the patent program by collaborating with Research and Engineering on patentable innovations and aligning filing strategies with business objectives.
The role requires a Juris Doctor (JD) and an active bar license, with over seven years of experience in a top law firm or in-house at a technology company, preferably in cloud, infrastructure, semiconductors, SaaS, or AI sectors. Candidates should have demonstrated experience advising product and engineering teams, drafting product terms, and managing global privacy programs. A working knowledge of export controls (EAR/OFAC) and experience with technology and IP licensing, including open-source licenses, are essential. Strong judgment, a pragmatic risk-based approach, and the ability to communicate complex legal and technical concepts to non-lawyers are crucial. Comfort in working independently within a small, fast-paced legal team and a desire to engage with AI tools are also important.
