Tyson & Mendes LLP is seeking a Senior Counsel to join its Complex Trial Team in New York, NY. This role involves leading high-exposure insurance defense cases, including those related to catastrophic injury, wrongful death, property damage, and professional liability. The Senior Counsel will be responsible for developing and executing case strategies, conducting risk assessments, managing discovery processes, and preparing for trials. Key duties include advising clients and insurance carriers, overseeing all stages of litigation, serving as lead counsel in trials and mediations, mentoring junior attorneys and support staff, and collaborating with expert witnesses to strengthen case arguments.

Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and hold an active license to practice law in New York, with eligibility to practice in federal courts. A minimum of 8 years of experience in insurance defense litigation, with a strong focus on complex trial work, is required. Demonstrated success as lead trial counsel in high-stakes cases, along with strong knowledge of civil procedure, tort law, insurance law, and trial strategies, is essential. Exceptional oral advocacy, legal writing, negotiation skills, and the ability to manage a demanding caseload with limited oversight are also necessary.

The base salary for this position ranges from $150,000 to $200,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Attorneys are eligible for an annual billable hours bonus starting at $10,000, with additional tiers aggregating at $7,500 each.
