Tyson & Mendes LLP is seeking an experienced Senior Counsel to join their Complex Trial Team in San Francisco, California. This role involves leading high-exposure insurance defense cases, including those related to catastrophic injury, wrongful death, property damage, and professional liability. The Senior Counsel will be responsible for developing and executing case strategies, conducting risk assessments, managing discovery processes, and overseeing all stages of litigation. This includes drafting pleadings, conducting depositions, handling pre-trial motions, and representing clients in jury trials, bench trials, and mediations. Additionally, the role involves providing clear legal advice to clients, supervising and mentoring junior attorneys and support staff, and collaborating with expert witnesses to strengthen case arguments.

Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and hold an active license to practice law in California, with eligibility to practice in federal courts. A minimum of 8 years of experience in insurance defense litigation, with a strong focus on complex trial work, is required. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success as lead trial counsel in multiple high-stakes cases, strong knowledge of civil procedure, tort law, and insurance law, and exceptional oral advocacy, legal writing, and negotiation skills. Experience with e-discovery tools and case management software is also preferred.

The compensation package includes a base salary ranging from $160,000 to $190,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Attorneys are eligible for an annual billable hours bonus starting at $10,000, with additional tiers available.
